About Me

Marc.Core, also known as MarcCore, is a sound artist from the Sauerland region who moved near Cologne in 2010. His passion for electronic music began in 1996 when he became one of the first in his circle to own turntables and vinyl records. His first record, "MAMBA," drew him in with its aesthetic and fascinating sounds, sparking his curiosity for electronic music.
From a young age, Marc.Core was interested in electronics. He discovered the FORMANT modular synthesizer in "Elektor" magazine and, with great enthusiasm, built a complete 19-inch rack in his parents' basement. There, he spent countless hours experimenting with soundscapes. His parents supported his passion, despite not fully understanding the technology behind it.
In the 7th grade, Marc.Core witnessed the end of the rock era at his school disco. Alongside his friend Dave, he decided to introduce something new: electronic music. Armed with an old mixer, a turntable, and a CD player, they became pioneers in their school’s DJ scene. This moment set Marc.Core on a path toward electronic music, and he began investing in equipment, including Omnitronik turntables, drum machines, synthesizers, and effect devices. His childhood room became a hub of musical exploration.
A major turning point was his acquisition of an MPC 2000XL, which allowed him to control his Format B Modular Synthesizer with MIDI notes and produce complex drum patterns. DJing also played a significant role in his development, and his collection included Technics 1200 turntables and a Pioneer DJM 500 mixer. Starting in 2000, he produced numerous techno tracks, some of which were even released on vinyl.
As he continued to evolve, Marc.Core built connections in Cologne’s electronic music scene and traveled across Europe to perform his tracks. He partnered with his friend Feab to create live performances, crafting intricate soundscapes for audiences. His journey through electronic music spanned genres, including tribal techno, schranz, disco-house, and minimal techno, the latter becoming his signature style.
Influenced by artists like Richie Hawtin, Michael Schaffhäuser, Steve Bug, and the Kompakt Records label from Cologne, Marc.Core developed a unique sound. He maintained a deep love for minimal techno, despite exploring various subgenres over the years.
Today, Marc.Core continues his work in the electronic music scene with his project "Big Brown Disco Boots" alongside DJ_responski from Cologne. Their second track, "Heart Pumping," is set to release in October 2023 on Traxsource. With this project, Marc.Core showcases his creativity and remains an innovative force in electronic music. His passion for sound exploration and dedication to the craft keep him at the forefront of the scene, continuously pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
